Service Channels
The service channel provides access to a remote unit through the digital communications interface
connection. The GARD Pro is capable of two independent service channels (A & B) allowing
access to two remote units. Each service channel consumes a 64kbps timeslot of the internal
communications bus and adds to the digital interfaces data rate accordingly. Service channels
require framing to be enabled on the digital interface which will also add an additional 64kbps to
the interface data rate.
7.4.1 Activate the Service Channel
To activate the service channel, several settings need to be made. Make the following settings in
both the local and remote ends.
•
Local IP Alias for Remote Unit
•
Remote System netmask
•
Remote System rear IP address
7.4.2 Rules for a Service Channel
These rules define the interactions of the two service channels.
•
Service Channel A to communicates with the remote Service Channel B only.
