card provides four balanced-output interfaces. For the method of accessing a private-4E1-line
network, refer to the method of accessing an E1 network.
There is no mapping between the interfaces and the four E1 lines on the local and the remote
ends meaning that the lines can be connected to any of the four interfaces, at the local and remote
ends, as long as all the four lines are connected.
2.1.5 Connecting to a PSTN
For voice communications over a PSTN, the terminal must first connect to the PSTN.
A PSTN-E1 interface card has one interface for a PSTN line and one interface for an E1 line.
Therefore, the terminal can access both PSTN and E1 networks using the PSTN-E1 interface
card.
After being connected to a PSTN, the terminal can make PSTN calls. In addition, PSTN sites
and the terminal can join the same conference.
NOTE
If a PSTN-E1 interface card is used for accessing a PSTN, no additional PSTN-associated settings are
required. If the PSTN-E1 interface card is used for accessing a private-E1-line network, E1 parameters
must be set. For details, see section
2.6.2 Setting 4E1/E1 Parameters
2.2 Inserting a 3G Data Card
To use the terminal for video communications over a 3G network, a 3G data card must be inserted
into a USB port of the terminal.
Always use designated Huawei 3G data cards for the terminal. To enable the terminal to support
3G data cards, purchase a corresponding license that has the media access control (MAC) address
and sequence number (SN) of the terminal.
The terminal supports hot swap of 3G data cards.
shows how to insert a 3G data card.
NOTE
For ViewPoint 9030, ViewPoint 9039S, HUAWEI VP9039A, and ViewPoint 9039S, the USB ports are
located on the rear panels.

Inserting a 3G data card
If a 3G data card has been inserted and if the license of the terminal provides functions of 3G
data cards, the terminal performs detection as follows:
