To install modem support
If you have installed retail Windows and your HP Notebook contains a built-in 3Com
56K V.90 Mini PCI Modem, you need to install the modem drivers. The modem drivers
are contained in the \HP\DRIVERS\W2K\MODEM\3COM subdirectory
1. Open the Device Manager: Right-click on My Computer and select Properties, click
the Hardware tab, and then click the Device Manager button.
2. Double-click PCI Simple Communications Controller.
3. Click Reinstall Driver on the General tab.
4. Click Next.
5. Click “Display a list of the known drivers for this device So that I can choose a
specific driver,” and click Next.
6. Double-click Modems.
7. Click “Have Disk.” Browse to the HP\Drivers\Modems\3COM and double-click
WDHABBE.INF.
8. Click OK.
9. Select 3COM 56K V.90 Mini PCI Modem.
10. Click Next.
11. Click Next.
12. Click Yes.
13. Click Finish and close the Device Manager.
