Section 2 Installation & Initial Turn-On
Platinum Z16HD+
STEP 3
Secure the cable to the adaptor using the screw terminals as follows:
•
CANL: Clear-jacketed conductor(s) to terminal 1
•
CANH: Blue-jacketed conductor(s) to terminal 2
•
Shield wire(s) to terminal 3
If two CAN cables will be connected to a single adaptor, twist and lightly solder the like
conductors together before attaching to adaptor.
Example: Twist and solder the blue-jacketed CANH conductor of one CAN cable, to
the corresponding blue-jacketed CANH conductor of the 2nd CAN cable, before
securing to Terminal 2 of the CAN Adaptor. Remember, for this type of 2-cable
connection, the adaptor will not need terminating (see STEP 4 below).
STEP 4
Set Jumper J3 as follows:
•
When a single CAN cable is connected to a device, the adaptor will
require a termination at that end - Set J3 across IN pins
•
When two CAN cables connect to a single device, the adaptor will
NOT require a termination for that connection - Set J3 across OUT
pins (however, the opposite end of either of these cables will most
likely connect singly to another device, requiring termination).
2.5.4.4.1 MAIN RF OUTPUTS
RF OUTPUT (BNC) is the PA output of the BoostPro. Typically it will be routed to the
Exciter Switcher board (BNC).
RF SAMPLE (BNC) is a -40dBc signal for monitoring and measurements.
2.5.4.4.2 TX INTERFACE
Connect W1-A15A1J2 from Z controller to TX INTERFACE on BoostPro if it is in top
slot ("RF Source 1").
If BoostPro is in bottom slot ("RF Source 2"), connect W2-A16A1J2 from Z controller
to TX INTERFACE.
2.5.4.4.3 RS 232
For VT100 serial interface connection to a PC. Refer to "6.9.1 VT100 Setup" on page 6-
9.
