Section 5 Maintenance and Alignment
Platinum Z16HD+
STEP 9
Remove the orange DC ground cables numbered 52, 152, 652, and 752
from the ground studs located under the front top lip of the power supply
compartment.
STEP 10
Remove the orange DC output cables from their respective feed through
capacitors: 681 from C8, 680 from C7, 81 from C4, and 80 from C3.
STEP 11
While holding the disconnected cables out of the way slowly pull the
power supply chassis out of the cabinet until cables W12 and W21 can
be disconnected from PS2. Use care not to catch other cabling.
STEP 12
Located above the power supply is a cage or basket that covers the entire
combiner. This can be removed by removing the perimeter screws.
Lower the basket and remove it from the transmitter.
STEP 13
You can now see the ABCD combiner assembly. Go to rear of the
transmitter and you can see the two 1 5/8 inch AB and CD combiner
outputs (one on the left hand side and one right hand side) feeding the
combiner assembly. At the rear center is the output. The 3 1/8 inch
output connector is socketed, there are no hose clamps or hardware that
needs to be removed to pull this filter out.
STEP 14
Disconnect the output transmission line from the top of transmitter and
disconnect J3, J4, J5 from the directional couplers. Disconnect the top
plate and connector from the transmitter so that the filter can be raised
up about 6 inches. Loosen the two hose clamps holding the filter in place
and slide it up and out of the combiner. Then tighten the hose clamps to
hold the filter up.
STEP 15
Disconnect W143 from J4 on the combiner. With one man in front and
one man at the rear to support the combiner loosen the two hose clamps
for the combiner outputs and remove the hardware at each corner of the
hybrid assembly. Remove the combiner output support bracket by
removing two screws located to the rear of the lower hose clamp of the
Low Pass Filter. Slowly and evenly lower the combiner from the
transmitter disengaging it from the combiner outputs. You will need to
spread the combiner mounting brackets to completely remove it from
the transmitter.
STEP 16
With the combiner on a good work surface turn the unit upside down and
remove 32 screws from the cover. Remove the cover and this will
expose the internal workings of the combiner.
To re-install the power supply refer to Section 2, Installation.
