Section 1 Introduction/Specifications
Platinum Z16HD+
•
The ¼VGA touch screen GUI for intuitive control and realtime monitoring
•
Direct proprietary ZHD+ transmitter interface for dedicated control and status
between the exciter and transmitter
•
Adaptive Correction: The exciter uses real-time adaptive correction (RTAC), non-lin-
ear adaptive correction for HD, FM+HD, and SLC performance
•
Stand-alone operation: Utilizes an internal harmonic filter for backup stand-alone
transmitter applications up to 55W RF output (FM mode only - less for any HD
modes)
•
Customer Upgradeable: The exciter software/firmware is upgradeable using a cus-
tomer supplied PC via USB port or via a network connection
1.3.1.2
BoostPro™ Amplifier
For multi-cabinet transmitter systems, the BoostPro is used to increase the gain of the
AUX RF OUT output of the HDx-FM exciter to appropriate levels for the IPA stage.
1.3.1.3
Redundant Exciters
Depending upon the exact configuration of your Z16HD+ system, a 2nd HDx-FM
exciter or DIGIT CD (FM operation only) exciter may be used for backup purposes.
1.3.1.4
Backup DIGIT CD™ FM Exciter
The DIGIT CD, with its digital input module, generates the complete stereo FM
waveform in the digital domain, using a digital signal processor (DSP) as a stereo
generator and composite limiter, and a 32-bit numerically controlled oscillator (NCO)
as a digital modulator. digital techniques allow direct connection of standard AES/EBU
stereo audio data to the FM exciter to eliminate the distortion and alignment problems
of analog signal paths and analog FM exciters. DIGIT CD is also available with an
analog interface module for stations with analog program paths, easily interchangeable
with the digital module.
1.3.2
PA/IPA Modules
The PA Modules consist of two independent RF amplifiers. Each RF amp has two
MOSFET devices mounted on a compact heat sink assembly. The RF modules plug
directly into an isolated combiner without using channel sensitive RF cables. PA
