Figure 3-3. Dual Selector Panel
Dual Selector Panel Quick Guide
A Dual Selector panel (Figure 3-3) is an upgraded Dual Fader panel
with built-in source selection control for a 16x2 MicroRouter. This
upgrade gives each channel on the panel the ability to choose
between 17 named sources (16 on the 16x2 MicroRouter and the
local analog input for that channel strip). Dual Selector channels
have Next/Setup labels in place of the standard A/B name labels.
You can recognize Dual Selector panels by their channel display:
●
Two 10-character Source Name displays
●
Two Next and Setup labels
Each channel strip can select between the 16 sources available
from the 16x2 MicroRouter (called common sources, available to
both channels) and its own local analog input. Most panel functions
are identical to the Dual Fader panel, so this subsection covers only
those functions that differ.
Channel Display
Source Name Display – The ten-character displays have two
functions, depending upon whether Next is lit. When Next is not
lit, the display shows the name of the active source for that
channel. Pressing the UP or DN button causes Next to light and
changes the display to show the name of a potential next source
for that channel.
Next – When lit, indicates the source selector buttons (UP and
DN) are actively being used to find the next source for the
channel. Next is turned off when Take is pressed. If Take is not
pressed, Next turns off about three seconds after the last UP or
DN button press. The displayed name then returns to show the
active source name.
Setup – Should not be lit under normal operation. When lit it
indicates the panel is in Setup mode, which is only used to assign,
or edit, the source names.
To exit Setup mode, press and hold the left channel Offline and
Take buttons together for three seconds. The Setup labels turn
off, and the panel returns to Normal mode.
Source Selection Controls
UP and DN – Pressing either button lights Next, changing the Source Name Display to show the names of
potential next sources while Next is lit. Press the UP button to step through the names in forward
alphanumeric order. Press the DN (down) button to step through the names in reverse order. Press and hold
either button to rapidly step through the list. The Source Name Display returns to show the active source
name about three seconds after the last UP or DN button press.
Take – When Next is lit, and the channel is off, pressing Take selects the displayed next source as the new
source for that channel. To prevent on-air signal interruptions, the current source cannot be changed while a
channel is on. If you press Take while the channel is on, the ON button blinks rapidly to indicate the Take
command is locked out and the source is “preset.” When you subsequently turn off the channel, pressing
Take instantly takes the preset source.
