Console Display Service
The meter-clock-timer board and, on the Quad Display only, the two-meter board are located inside the
Console Display subassembly, which is fastened to the chassis just behind the operator control panels. The
circuit board settings can be changed, or the circuit boards exchanged, by removing the rear cover from the
subassembly. These boards plug into the Monitor & Output board using a single small ribbon cable, which
can be “hot plugged” if required.
Console Display Removal
The console’s display subassembly only has to be removed from the chassis if the cue speaker needs to be
changed or if a DSP card or the Monitor & Output card needs to be exchanged. You should power off the
console before removing and reinstalling the display subassembly.
To remove the display subassembly, perform these steps:
1.
Open the rear cover panel to reveal the rear chassis and the back of the display subassembly.
2.
If a master clock cable is plugged into the 4-pin Molex connector on the rear chassis, unplug the cable.
3.
The Molex connector must be released from the chassis, since it is on a cable coming from the meter-
clock-timer board. To do this, press on its two mounting tabs while pushing the connector in through the
chassis, releasing it from being held in the chassis opening.
4.
There are multiple Philips screws (3, 5, or 7, depending upon console size) that fasten the rear of the
display subassembly to the chassis. Remove and retain these screws.
5.
The multiple Phillips screws (Figure 5-3) that fasten the front of the display subassembly to the chassis
go through small tabs that extend below the operator control panels. To access these screws, which
must be removed, you must remove several control panels:
•
On all console sizes, remove the Monitor Control panel and the first (left-most) dual fader panel.
•
On a NetWave-8, also remove the third dual fader panel.
•
On a NetWave-16, also remove the fourth and seventh dual fader panels.
•
On a NetWave-24, also remove the fourth, seventh, and tenth dual fader panels.

6.
Lift up the display subassembly so that the front tabs clear the chassis.
7.
Unplug the two captive display cables from the Monitor & Output card. The cue speaker cable is plugged
into J25, and the display cable is plugged into J23.
Reinstall the console display in reverse order, except in regards to the Molex connector for the master clock
cable. Latch this connector into the rear chassis opening first. Then plug the two display cables back into
keyed connectors J23 and J25 on the Monitor & Output card. Be sure not to pinch any of these cables
between the subassembly and the chassis while reinstalling the display. Also, do not put any strain on these
cables while removing or reinstalling the display subassembly.
