Cleaning the Machine
This section describes how to clean the machine.
If the reflection plate or glass of the document scanning unit is dirty, it may result in
black lines or bands on the entire copy.
Important •
Do not use benzene, paint thinner, or other volatile liquids or spray insect repellent on the
machine as doing so may discolor, deform, or crack covers.
•
If it is difficult to remove dirt, try gently wiping with a firmly wrung soft cloth, if necessary
moistening it with a small amount of neutral detergent. Then, wipe with a dried cloth.
•
Do not use cleaning agents other than water or neutral detergent.
•
Cleaning the machine with an excessive amount of water may cause the machine to mal-
function or damage documents during copying.
1
Turn off the power switch (1) and the power
breaker (main power switch) of the machine (2).
Important •
Turn off the power switch and the power
breaker (main power switch) when cleaning to
avoid the risk of electric shock.
2
Open the document cover by raising the lever at
the right end.
3
Wipe the white reflection plate on the underside
of the document cover with a dried cloth.
CAUTION
When cleaning this product, switch off the product and its switchboard (branch cir-
cuit). Access to a live machine interior may cause electric shock.
