OPERATION SHEET: 4.3.11
Scope : Beta gauge check (gauge test, mass test)
PAGE : 1/1
Periodicity : 6 months
Dates
1/ Gauge test
Carry out a gauge test by following the instructions described in paragraph 3.3.6.4.
Chose a test number equal to five.
At the end of the five tests, edit the report and check the following values :
–
Blank average
: check that the value stated in counts/s remains stable compared to the
previous test (+/- 200 c/s).
–
Measurement
: check that the absolute value of the measurement remains lower than 5
µg/cm².
–
Standard-deviation
: check that the standard deviation remains lower than 5 µg/cm².
If the test fails, repeat the test (no more than three times).
If the detector is too noisy, it is probably necessary to replace it.
If the
Blank average value
fell down, the source could be damaged. Then, carry out a contamination
test.
2/ Mass test
Carry out a mass test by following the instructions described in paragraph 3.3.6.5.
Set test number to 5.
At the end of the five tests, edit the report and check the following values :
–
Measurement
: check that the measurement value is near to the value indicated on the
reference gauge (
│
Measurement – Reference gauge value
│≤
30 µg/cm²).
–
Standard deviation
: check that the standard deviation remains lower than 15 µg/cm².
If the test fails, repeat the test.
When the second mass test is not correct yet, carry out a Beta gauge calibration.
