Appendix A: Common Behaviors
DynaVox Series 4 software offers about 175 behaviors for buttons on communication pages. These are
grouped into categories to make it easier to search for individual behaviors. The category that will be
used most frequently is Common Behaviors, which includes the following:
Behavior Name
Behavior Function
Activate a Macro
Selecting a button with this behavior will launch the steps in a specified macro.
Backspace
When a button with this behavior is selected, the last space or character to be added to
the Message Window will be deleted.
Clear
Selecting a button with this behavior will erase the contents of the Message Window.
Close Popup
Selecting a button with this behavior will close a popup.
Delete Word
When selected, a button with this behavior will delete the last word that was added to
the Message Window.
Go to Page
When a button with this behavior is selected, the device will open a specified page.
Go to Page & Search
When a button with this behavior is selected, the device will open a specified page and
perform a previously-defined search.
Insert Active Label
Selecting a button with this behavior will send the contents of the active label to the
Message Window.
Insert Label
When a button with this behavior is selected, a button's label will be sent to the Message
Window.
Insert New Line
Selecting a button with this behavior will move the cursor down one line space in the
Message Window.
Insert Text
When a button with this behavior is selected, a text message that is assigned to the
button will be sent to the Message Window.
Open Popup Exclusively
When a button with this behavior is selected, the device will open a specified popup.
Selections can be made on the popup, but not on the page behind it. The page behind the
popup will be grayed out.
Page Back
Selecting a button with this behavior will take you back to the previous page.
