Section 5: Customizing Pages
To be an effective communication tool, your DV4/MT4 device should always include your own unique
vocabulary. In addition to the thousands of vocabulary items in the Series 4 page sets, you must be able
to quickly access names, phone numbers and other personal information. The inclusion of the names of
family and friends, and the addition of vocabulary that relates to a favorite hobby, a job or school also
makes it easier for someone to talk about the things that matter most.
DynaVox Series 4 software offers several unique, easy-to-use tools for customizing your communication
pages (including pages within the DynaVox Language Applications page sets):

The User Setup Wizard

The Modify button
●
The Modify Pages menu
These tools make it easy to change and customize the DynaVox Language Applications page sets that you
received as part of your device’s software. These sets of communication pages are intended to be
customized with unique, personal vocabulary. The tools that are discussed in this section provide the
simplest way to make the most of these page sets.
The User Setup Wizard
The simplest way to add customized information to the DynaVox Language Applications page sets is to use
the User Setup Wizard. This feature is designed to work with the active labels in the pre-programmed
pages. Active labels are a unique version of the standard labels that can be used to place text on buttons.
Instead of being manually assigned with a system keyboard, the text in an active label is automatically
filled in and maintained by the Series 4 software. Active labels are often used for buttons that display the
time and date. When active labels are used in conjunction with the User Setup Wizard, you enter your
personal information into the User Setup Wizard one time. Then the information is automatically added to
any buttons with active labels relating to personal information. For example, if you enter your name and
address into the User Setup Wizard and then open a page with active labels set to "name" and "address,"
those labels will automatically be filled with correct name and address.
Begin to explore this feature by opening the User Setup Wizard:
1. Select the pull-down menu button in the title bar at the top of the touch screen.
2. Select
Setup
in the main pull-down menu.
3. Select
Setup Menu
in the second pull-down menu. The
Setup
menu will open.
