Peltier element
• The development of condensation water on
the cold side in the Peltier element could
lead to corrosion which could drastically
reduce the durability of the element.
As a protection, the inner parts of the
element are coated with a thin layer of
epoxy resin. On the outside the Peltier
element is protected against humidity by
means of silicone.
Heat sink (4) (Fig. 3)
• The heat sink (4) is a ribbed aluminium
body which distributes the heat over an
area big enough to transfer it to the
surrounding air when the fan is running
without causing an accumulation of heat.

The typical temperature of the heat sink is
approx. 10 °C above the ambient
temperature.
• Contamination by dust and grease (e.g.
especially in kitchens) can reduce the heat
transferring properties which in turn reduces
the effectivity of the cooling system. In an
extreme case the temperature of the heat
sink and thus the temperature of the warm
Peltier element side could rise to a point at
which the Peltier element would be
destroyed.
Fan (5)
• The heat sink is cooled by the air stream
generated by the fan (5).
For effective cooling it is indispensable that
the fan functions correctly. (Fig. 4)
