Trouble s hooting

Invalid operation
- The following are not valid operation s and cannot be performed.
• Trying to add a s hot mar k to a frame that already ha s one.
• Trying to add an
$
mar k and a
%
mar k to the s ame clip.
• Pre ss ing the REC button when no card s are in s erted in the camcorder.
Management file error
- Cannot record becau s e the camcorder cannot write to the file control information. Thi s may occur if the file s on the
card were acce ss ed u s ing another device. S ave your clip s ( A 151) and initialize the card ( A 35).
May not be po ss ible to record clip s on thi s media
- The card s elected for recording ha s a S peed Cla ss rating lower than 10. U s e a recommended card (
A
33).
Media full
- The S D card i s full. Replace the card or delete s ome recording s (
A
140, 182) to free s ome s pace on the card.
Media i s almo s t full
- The amount of available s pace on the S D card i s low. Replace the card or delete s ome recording s (
A
140, 182) to free
s ome s pace.
- The amount of available s pace on S D card A and S D card B combined i s low. Replace the card that i s not s elected.
Media i s not s upported
- 512 MB or s maller S D card s cannot be u s ed with the camcorder. U s e a recommended card (
A
33).
Memory card i s write-protected
- The LOCK s witch on the S D card i s s et to prevent accidental era s ure. Change the po s ition of the LOCK s witch.
Number of clip s already at maximum
- The card s elected for recording already contain s the maximum number of clip s (999 clip s ). Replace the card.
Number of S hot Mark s at maximum
- The s hot mar k could not be added becau s e the clip already contain s 100 s hot mar ks .
Recorded at 50.00 Hz/59.94 Hz S D Card A / S D Card B: Recommend checking the data and initializing
- The card contain s clip s that were recorded u s ing a s y s tem frequency different from the one currently u s ed by the
camcorder. S ave the content of the card if nece ss ary and initialize the card with thi s camcorder (

35).
Recording wa s s topped.
- The file control information i s corrupted or there wa s an encoder error. Turn the camcorder off and then on again.
Then, remove the card being u s ed and rein s ert it. Alternatively, replace the card. If thi s doe s not s olve the problem,
con s ult a Canon S ervice Center.
S D Card A / S D Card B: Check the data.
- Cannot acce ss the card. Chec k the card and ma k e s ure it i s in s erted correctly.
- A card error occurred. The camcorder cannot record or di s play the image. Try removing and rein s erting the card, or
u s e a different card.
- You in s erted a MultiMedia Card (MMC) into the camcorder. U s e a recommended S D card (
A
33).
- If after the me ss age di s appear s , or appear s in red, perform the following: Turn off the camcorder and remove
and rein s ert the card. If

• The camcorder cannot read the data on the card.
• The card wa
s initialized u s ing a computer.
• The card i s partitioned.
- The card wa s initialized u s ing a camcorder with a different firmware ver s ion. To be able to record on the card, s ave the
recording s it contain s and then initialize it u s ing thi s camcorder.

- The camcorder s witched to recording on the other card after you pre ss ed the S LOT S ELECT button or automatically
due to relay recording.

(relay recording).
S ome clip s require data recovery.
- The power may have been s uddenly turned off or the card may have been removed while the camcorder wa s
recording. A s a re s ult, one or more clip s contain corrupted data. You can try to recover the clip s (
