3. While holding the pad against the rim, tighten the retention nut.
4. Pass the inner cable through the inner cable lead. Place the cable with clearance of 1mm between each
brake pad and rim, tighten the cable fixing bolt unit.
5. Calibrate with the spring tension screw adjustment.
6. Lower the brake lever about 10 times the height of the wrist, to check that everything works properly
and that the pad clearance is correct before using the brakes.
U BRAKES
Start by adjusting the U brake pads with a 10mm wrench. Make sure that the pad touches the rim and
not the tire. Ideally, the front of the pad should touch the rim approximately 1 mm before the rear pad.
U FRONT BRAKE
Slide the cable and cover of the brake through the brake drum and the cable fixing bolt. Establish a 1mm
clear space for the cable between the brake pads and rim. Tighten the cable fixing bolt unit. To follow the
illustrated instructions, look at the bike forward. To adjust the brakes use a 13mm combination wrench
and a 5mm Allen wrench. Loosen the Allen bolt 5mm. Turn the spring tension nut with a 13mm combi-
nation wrench counter clockwise to the side of the sprockets (left) side of the bike to increase spring
tension.
Turn the spring tension nut with a combination wrench in a clockwise direction, to the side where they
are not sprockets (right), to increase spring tension. When you have the desired tension, hold the tension
nut with the 13mm wrench to tighten the 5mm Allen screw. The tension on each side must be the same
so that the brake arms move the same distance when the brake is activated.
U REAR BRAKE
Option 1:
Tighten the cable carrier to the brake cable approximately 20mm from the brake arms. When
they are tight against the rim, tighten the brake cable to the carrier. Attach the cable end into the slot
of the brake, pull the excess cable through the cable holder and tighten the cable fixator. Continue with
part “For both options” below.
Option 2:
Put the brakes coverage on the frame coverage cover blockers. Pull the brake cable so that
it becomes stiff and pass it through the fixation screw of the opposite cable. Tighten the cable. Repeat
for the other side. Continue with part “ for the two options” For two options: To adjust the brakes, use
a 13mm combination wrench and a 5mm Allen wrench and loosen the Allen screw 5mm , to the side of
the bike sprockets (right), turn the spring tension nut with a 13mm combination wrench counter clock-
wise to increase the spring tension”, to the side where there are not sprockets (left), turn the spring
tension nut with a combination wrench in clockwise direction to increase spring tension. When you have
the desired tension, hold the tension nut with the 13mm wrench to tighten the 5mm Allen screw. The
tension on each side must be the same so that the brake arms move the same distance when the brake
is activated.
PLEASE NOTE that some BMX frames have U brakes directed and assembled under the risers. The direc-
tion to tighten the springs will be oriented the same way as illustrated.
