ASSEMBLY
Continue until the quick release lever is closed properly. Secondary restraints do not replace proper grip
of quick release lever. If the quick-release mechanism is not properly tightened, the wheel may come
loose, which could lead you to lose control and fall, causing serious injury or even death. For the rear
wheel, the procedure is similar, taking only attention to the place were the chain was when you’ve dis-
assembled the wheel (check the display of the gear selector) See also page 49 to 51.
BRAKES
Check what kind of brakes your bike is equipped with and refer to the appropriate assembly instructions.
For more information on tuning and maintenance of brakes, see pages 25 to 28.
V-BRAKES
If not already installed, remove the brake cable of box
parts and slide the cable through the larger opening.
The cable spiral sits on the edge of the cable. Slide the
cable through the noodle at the end of brake left arm,
which will make the cable enter the guide. Slide the
brake cable on the cable and position it between the
two brake arms. Then loosen the fixation bolt 5mm
at the far right of the brake arm and slide the cable
under the retention ring. Take all the tension of the
cable making sure that there is a distance of 39mm or
more between the end and the beginning of the guide
pin fixation. When the cable is connected to the brake arms, squeeze the brake lever several times, checking
the position of the brake shoes on the rim. The brake shoes should be 1mm away from the rim. If your bicycle
has a V-Brake don’t forget to shake before using. Then loosen the 5mm fixation bolt at the far right of the
brake arm and slide the cable under the retention washer. Take all the tension of the cable making sure that
there is a distance of 39mm or more between the end of the guide and the beginning of the fixation pin. When
the cable is connected to the brake arms, squeeze the brake lever several times, checking the position of the
brake pads on the rim. The brake pad should be 1mm away from the rim. If your bicycle has a V-Brake don’t
forget to press it before using. When the brake lever is squeezed, the brake pads must touch the rim (not the
tire) with the front brake touching the rim slightly before the rear brake pad. This is what is called” lean for-
ward” brake pad. If you fail to obtain this position, you must adjust the brake pads. Unscrew the brake pad and
replace the pad. You may need to make several adjustments to the pad and cable to get the desired location.
1. If your bike is equipped with V brakes, insert the brake body in the centre hole of the spring mounting
hub and then connect the brake body to the frame with the screw.
