Chapter 1 Alarm Overview
NM Level
NM level includes level 1, level 2, level 3, level 4 and level 5. The
meanings for each level are as follows.

Level 1: critical

Level 2: major
�
Level 3: minor
�
Level 4: clear
�
Level 5: informational
Cause
Various kinds of causes are as follows. In order to recover the
system as soon as possible, we should find out trigger conditions,
trigger frequency, the resolutions and the prevent measures. The
causes for ZXR10 alarm messages are as follows:
1. The hardware or device malfunction.
i. Single board malfunction.
ii. Other hardware malfunction, such as system power mal-
funcrion, fan malfunction, flash card malfunction and so
on.
iii. Hardware can not satisfy needs.
For example, current
hardware such as single board, CPU and the memory can
not satisfy the increasing needs.
2. Software malfunction. It may be the software BUG or the fail-
ure caused by the software upgrade.
3. Environment alarm. For example,
i.
The smooth running of the system has a strict requirment
on the environment. If the temprature or the humidity can
not satisfy the requirment, alarm occurs.
ii. Natural disaster and the accidental incident can also gen-
erate alarms. For example, lightening, fire or earthquake.
4. The configuration error or the improper setup.
i. The setup problem: the interface setup between devices,
the system privilege, password, file and catolog setup.
ii. The configuration can not satisfy the system requirments:
the system capability and capacity decrease caused by con-
figuration error. Especially if the alarm threshold is set by
users, proper configuration is strongly required.
5. The malfunction on the other end device also generates alarms.
