sel& shift (Select & Shift):
Playing a key to the left o f the
Split Po int will trig g er (“ select” ) a specific User Pattern, and
playing keys to the rig ht o f the Split Po int will shift the pitch o f
the selected pattern acco rding ly. Fo r example, if the Split Po int
is set to C3 , then C1 plays the Vo ice Pattern fo r the selected
vo ice, and 2 3 different User Patterns can be selected by
pressing keys C# 1 ~ B2 . (Fo r mo re info rmatio n abo ut the Split
Po int, see pag e 7 7 .) C4 always determines the base pitch.
For more information about triggering and assigning the User Patterns to “ select” ,
see page 3 9 .

H o l d
The Ho ld parameter desig nates the Ho ld setting fo r the
Arpeg g iato r and Step Sequencer. The Pattern Ho ld
functio n causes the Arpeg g iato r o r Sequencer pattern
to co ntinue playing after releasing the keys. Basically
the Ho ld parameter either turns Ho ld o n o r o ff, but
when Keybo ard Mo de is set to “ sel&no rm” o r
“ sel&shift” , there are two types o f ho ld mo des fo r the
Step Sequencer.

•
m ode1 :
A pattern will be trig g ered every time a key is
pressed.
•
m ode2 :
A pattern will be trig g ered after the current
sequence finishes, even if yo u press a key during the
middle o f the current sequence.

The MIDI Pattern Transmit Channel parameter lets yo u
desig nate the MIDI channel o n which to transmit the
Arpeg g iato r o r Step Sequencer pattern data, to be
o utput via the MIDI [O UT] terminal.
This lets yo u, fo r example, reco rd the pattern no te and
o ther data played by the Arpeg g iato r o r Step
Sequencer into an external MIDI sequencer, o r have
the AN 1 x’s pattern data trig g er an external to ne

canno t be sto red as vo ice data, and therefo re remains
as set reg ardless o f which vo ice is selected.)
