In additio n to the vo ice-related data sto red in a vo ice
memo ry lo catio n, each vo ice has “ Vo ice Pattern” data fo r
a sing le Step Sequencer pattern. Since there are 1 2 8
vo ices in memo ry, the co llectio n o f 1 2 8 patterns as sto red
in the vo ices is called the Vo ice Pattern bank. In additio n
to the Vo ice Pattern bank, there is a separate bank o f 1 2 8
“ User Patterns” called the User Pattern bank.
The Vo ice and User Patterns can be played fro m the
keybo ard in a variety o f ways, depending o n the
Keybo ard Mo de setting in the VO ICE ARPEG G IO / SEQ

explained o n pag e 4 1 , but first let’s take a lo o k at the two
main metho ds o f Step Sequencer play— Sing le Pattern Play
and Pattern Select Play— and see what’s happening inside
the AN 1 x’s memo ry structure as yo u select, edit and sto re
