6. Inspect azimuth and elevation actuators for sufficient lubrication. For
either actuator, the following steps should be performed:
a. Run the actuator out 12 inches from the normal operating
position.
b. Disconnect the boot from the actuator housing and slide the boot
back.
c. Examine the last 12 inches of the screw for the condition of the
grease.
d. If the grease is dry, contaminated, or lacking, it must be replaced
(as follows).
e. Using a clean cloth and solvent, remove any dry or contaminated
grease.
CAUTION

If one of the following low-temperature greases
is not used on the actuator screw, damage to the
screw or motor could occur.

f. Apply a thin, uniform coating of one of the following low-
temperature greases:
•
Texaco Low Temperature #2346
•
Shell Aeroshell #17 (SA# 488563), (14 oz) Moly Grease
Cartridges
•
Mobil Low Temperature #28
g. Connect the boot back to the actuator housing.
h. Run the actuator in and out 12 inches each way two times.
i. Move the reflector back to the satellite position.
7. Apply Aeroshell #17 grease to all of the following grease fittings
shown in Figure 6-1:
NOTE
Six tubes of Aeroshell #17 grease cartridges supplied with
each antenna.
