UPPER MOUNT INSTALLATION PROCEDURES

SERIES 8116/8118 16-/18-METER EARTH STATION ANTENNA

Prior to installing the hub, it must be assembled on the ground.
The hub can be assembled at any convenient time prior to
installation. Perform the following procedures to assemble and
install the hub.

HUB ASSEMBLY AND

INSTALLATION

Assembly of the hub requires a large (at least 14 square feet (1.3
square meter)) area, flat, clean, and capable of handling at least
8000 lbs (3629 kg). The hub is shipped in three large segments.
Each segment weighs approximately 2500 lbs (1134 kg).  These
three segments are bolted together using braces supplied in the kit.
Perform the following procedures to assemble the hub.

Hub Assembly

1. Place 4 x 4s on assembly area to set the hub segments onto during

hub assembly process.

WARNING

__________________________________________

The hub segments weigh approximately 2500 lbs
(1134 kg) each. Use extreme care when hoisting
the hub segments into position.

__________________________________________

2. Place hub segment (item 2 in Figure 3-6) with two pivots upright

(pivots facing up) on 4 x 4s.

3. Place hub segment splice (item 5) onto left side of hub segment using

three bolts (item 105) without washers and nuts.

NOTE

The bolts without washers and nuts hold the splice plate in
place during installation of the next segment.

4. Align and secure next hub segment (item 1) to left side of first hub

using 15 bolts (item 105), 30 washers (item 107), and 15 nuts (item
108).

5. Place hub segment splice (item 5) onto left side of second hub

segment using three bolts (item 105) without washers and nuts.

6. Attach elevation jack plate (item 3) onto remaining hub segment

(pivot facing up) using three bolts (item 105) without washers and
nuts.

7. Align and secure last hub segment (item 1) to other two segments

using 30 bolts (item 105), 60 washers (item 107), and 30 nuts (item
108).
