REFLECTOR PANEL FINAL ALIGNMENT REFERENCE
Panel targets contain three 0.04 inch high white reference dots for theodolite sighting. The center of the middle dot is the
nominal setting reference; it is 0.25 inches above the reflector surface. The other two dots are centered 0.06 inches above and
below the main dot, for scaling the setting deviation.
The error in inches for a target in any row can be determined from the table by measuring the error in arc seconds. Also, a
compensation adjustment in arc seconds is listed for each row for a 0.01 inch error in theodolite elevation axis height.

6. RMS
ERROR
CALCULATION
The RMS error of the target settings should be no
greater than 0.010 inches. To calculate the RMS, fill
in the table below. Count the number of occurrences
of each error and multiply that count by the square of
the error. Divide the sum of all these products by the
total number of targets, and take the square root. This
gives the RMS. The total number of targets is 528 for
a 16 Meter Antenna, and 720 for an 18 Meter
Antenna.
