DESCRIPTION
NetBackup maintains a database of backup image information and a database
of media information. Both an image record in the image database and a media
ID in the media database contain an expiration date. The expiration date is the
date and time when NetBackup removes the record for a backup or media ID
from the corresponding database.
The
bpexpdate
command allows the expiration date and time of backups to
be changed in the NetBackup image database. It is also used to change the
expiration of removable media in the Netbackup media database. If the date is
set to zero,
bpexpdate
immediately expires backups from the image database
or media from the media database. When a media ID is removed from the
NetBackup media database, it is also deassigned in the Media Manager
database, regardless of the media’s prior state (FROZEN, SUSPENDED, and so
on).
