slave_name
:
install_path
\Volmgr\database
Where install_path is the directory where the NetBackup software is
installed on the slave server.
c. Configure the NetBackup classes (policies) and schedules that use the
storage units you configured on the slave server.
d. Add the slave server to the server list on the master server. You can also
use the install_path
\NetBackup\bin\add_slave
command.
Note:
The server list entries MUST be the same on all servers in a master-slave
cluster. It is also recommended (but not mandatory) that all other configuration
options (except the client name) match on all NetBackup servers. See “Servers
Tab” on page 476.
5. On each client, add a server list entry for the new slave server.
The location of the server list depends on the client:
• On Windows NT, 98, and 95 clients, make this change on the Servers tab
in the NetBackup Configuration dialog box. To open this dialog box, start
the user interface on the client and click Configure on the Actions menu
(this also applies to NetWare nontarget clients).
• On Macintosh clients, add a
SERVER
entry to the
bp.conf
file.
• On NetWare target clients, add a
SERVER
entry to the
bp.ini
file.
For more information, see the NetBackup user guide for the client. You can
also modify the server list by using the administration interface on the
master server (see “Servers Tab” on page 476).
Note:
Ensure that the host names match throughout your network’s TCP/IP
configuration or you will encounter problems with NetBackup.
6. On the master server, stop and then restart the NetBackup Request Manager
and Database Manager services.
7. Test your configuration by performing a user backup or a manual backup
that uses a schedule specifying a storage unit on the slave server.
