Configuring Your Library
You cannot set trap registration from the web client. The path to open the appropriate screen is as follows:
•
From the operator panel, select
Setup > Network Mgmt
.
Enabling SNMP Version
SNMP is an event-based trap protocol, designed for remote managing and monitoring of your library’s
status. Administrative users can use the
SNMP Version
tab on the operator panel
Network Management
screen to enable or disable support for different versions of SNMP management applications.
•
SNMP v1 and v2c — enabled by default
•
SNMP v3 — always enabled
Administrative users can disable SNMP v1 and SNMP v2c at any time from the operator panel. SNMP v3
is always enabled and cannot be disabled. The authentication algorithm is set to MD5, and the encryption
is disabled system-wide.
You cannot enable the SNMP version from the web client. The path to open the appropriate screen is as

Configuring Library Security Settings
Administrative users can use the operator panel
Security Settings
screen to change the following security
features:
•
Network Interface
— enables or disables all external access to the library. This setting is enabled
by default to allow external access.
•
SSH Services
— enable or disable Secure Shell (SSH) services, such as SSH (port 22), from
accessing the library. This setting is enabled by default.
•
ICMP
— enables or disables external attempts to discover the library by pinging it (by means of the
Internet Control Message Protocol [ICMP] Echo packets). This setting is enabled by default.
•
Remote UI
— enables or disables web client user interface access (port 80) to the library. This
setting is enabled by default.
•
SNMP
— enables or disables SNMP traffic (port 161) across the Ethernet port. This setting is
enabled by default.
•
SMI-S
— enables or disables SMI-S traffic (port 5988). This setting is enabled by default.

Selecting
Apply
on any one of the
Network Management
tabs (
SSL
,
Trap
Registration
, and
SNMP Version
) applies the settings on all three tabs. The
HTTP service restarts when you select
Apply
. All logged-in users have to
reconnect after HTTP services have been restarted.
