120 Installing, Removing, and Replacing
6 Slide the entire module toward you and lift it off of the module below it.
Replacing the 5U Control Module
1 Remove the tape drives from the new control module.
2 Remove the power supplies from the new control module.
3 Using the Phillips #2 screwdriver (for the top cover plate) and the T10 TORX screwdriver (for the bottom
cover plate), remove the new control module plates from the top or bottom of the module, as necessary.
a. If your library consists of only the control module, do not remove the plates.
b. If you plan to stack the control module at the top of the library, remove the control module’s
bottom cover plate.
c. If you plan to stack the control module at the bottom of the library, remove the control module’s
top cover plate.
4 Remove the LCB from the control module and set it aside.
The LCB stores information about the library’s contents and configuration, so you will probably want to
install this LCB (or possibly just the LCB compact flash card) in the new control module. For details
about removing the LCB, see

5 If the library configuration has a 9U expansion module below the 5U control module, install the
expansion module in the library now.
6 Install the new control module in the library. Lift the control module and, from the front of the library,
place it in the desired location.
CAUTION
Before removing the control module ’s bottom cover plate, the robot
assembly must be parked as described in Step 6 on page 116.
Note
If you plan to stack the control module on top of a 9U expansion module,
be sure to park the picker in the control module first.
