2.3 Shim adjustment at the upper part of the
boom bottom (inner box)
(Section [3])
(1) Set the shims under the slide plate in accordance
with Table 2. Then insert the inner box into the
outer box at 700 mm (27.56 in) from the boom full
retraction.
(2) Lift the inner box until the slide plate at the upper
part of the boom bottom contacts with the outer
box. In that state, adjust the dimension D to be
the value in table 2 by inserting the shim.
Check that there are not any clearances at the
slide plate portion to make sure that the inner box
is lifted certainly.
(3) Misalignment between the center of the inner box
and the center of the outer box shall be less than
1.0 mm (0.04 in) or less.
Adjust the alignment to move the shim.
Reference: When moving a 1.2-mm shim from
the one side to another side, the boom moves
1.7 mm (0.07 in).
(4) Apply a thread locking agent (ThreeBond 1401 or
the equivalent) to the bolt.
