3. Counterweight cylinder
synchronization adjustment
[NOTICE]
Condition of synchronization adjustment
• Pressure adjustment and bleeding of the cylinder
(by telescoping the cylinder for 3 times or more
without counterweight) are completed.
• Oil temperature: 50 ± 5°C (113 to 131°F)
• Engine speed: idling (670 min
-1
)

• Outriggers are fully extended and the machine is
set on a firm level surface.
• Boom elevating angle: around 70°
3.1 Adjustment without counterweight
(rough adjustment)
1. Extend the cylinders without the counterweight,
and measure the stroke difference between the
right and left cylinders. (Measure the remaining
stroke of the cylinder extending slower when the
other cylinder (extending faster) reaches its stroke
end.)
An extending cylinder is assumed to reach its
stroke end when the counterweight cylinder rod tip
reaches winch frame surface as shown below.
2. To measure the remaining stroke, stop the
cylinder extending operation when the cylinder
extending faster reaches its stroke end. Put a
mark using a tape, etc. on the rod of the cylinder
extending slower at the edge of the rod cover.
Then measure the distance between the edge of
the rod cover and the mark when the cylinder
extending slower reaches its stroke end by further
cylinder extending operation.
[NOTICE]
If the remaining stroke is 30 mm (1.2 in) or less,
adjustment is not necessary.
If the remaining stroke exceeds 30 mm (1.2 in),
tighten the choke bolt on the cylinder extending
faster until it seats. Then turn it back with 30°
increment, and add a little turning to reduce the
remaining stroke to 30 mm (1.2 in) or less.
If the speed of each cylinder differs excessively
during adjustment and the counterweight
inclines significantly, stop adjustment. Return
the machine to the configuration before
adjustment, then restart adjustment.
Do not operate the cylinder with its choke bolt
seated. (The cylinder will be locked and the
counterweight can incline significantly, leading
to damage to the machine.)
Do not loosen the choke bolt exceeding the
factory setting. Otherwise the engaged area of
the threaded section becomes too small and the
bolt can be come out during operation.
(At the factory setting, the bolt is loosened 3
turns from the seating position.)
When adjusting the choke bolt, check that the
counterweight is removed and the cylinder is not
moving.
