Electromagnetic gasket substitution
Removal
1) Remove the driving belt of water pump and the generator
(see 6A-26).
2) Disconnect electric lead of electromagnetic gasket.
3) Prevent pulley (8) from turning using the appropriate tool.
Remove nut (7), washer (6) and hub (5) of fan.
NOTE:
Nut (7) fixing the hub threads leftwards.

4) Remove pulley (8), cotter (12) and end washer (11).
5) Remove nuts (9) and withdraw electromagnetic gasket (10).

ELECTROMAGNETIC PULLEY
Characterstics
• Torque at 1000 r/min at 20°C: 2.3 Kgm (23 Nm).
• Torque which can be transmitted at 20°C with moderate
pressure on the clutch: 4.3 Kgm(43 Nm).
• Tension: 12 volt.
• Required power: 24 W.
(MECHANICAL INJECTION ENGINE)
When the temperature of coolant reaches 94°C ± 2°C, the
thermometric switch located in the radiator allows operation
of electromagnetic gasket (1) which it magnetization, attracts
the moving plate (3) engaging hub (4) with driving pulley (2).
(COMMON RAIL ENGINE)
In this engines, E.C.U. puts electromagnetic gasket on when
coolant temperature rise to 80 ºC
NOTE:
The electromagnetic gasket does not permit repairs; if
anomalous behavior is detected while running, replace
it.
