• Remove lower block and check width of calibrated wire
(10) in the area most crushed. To do this, use engraved
scale in the wrappings of calibrated wire.
• The measure arrived at must be within specified values.
Otherwise substitute the half bearings in question and
repeat measurement again starting from the beguining.
Installation play between bearings and main bearing
journals:
0,032 ÷ 0,102 mm
5) Once the measurements are satisfactory , clean the remains
of calibrated wire and carry out the installation of main bearing
noting following remarks:
• Lubricate bearings and journals of crankshaft.
• Install new gaskets connecting blocks.
• Apply tightening torques in sequence, previously indicated.

Control of crankshaft axial play
6) With dial gauge (B) placed as formerly described (measuring
tip touching flange (11) of crankshaft), check that axial play
of the crankshaft is within the tolerance range.
Axial play of crankshaft:
0,060 ÷ 0,310 mm
NOTE:
• If axial play exceeds the tolerated range, substitute
half ball bearings of the support n° 5.
• If half ball bearings of the support n° 5 have been
replaced, check again play of the installation between
bearing and journal.
Control of crankshaft pulley alignment
7) With the crankshaft pulley (15) removed, measure distance
(X) as follows:
• Measure distance (X) between the external face of cylinders
block (13) and the external face of bearing (12).
• If distance (X) is 53,82 ÷ 54,55 mm, place suplement (14)
between gear and pulley.
• If distance (X) es 54,56 ÷ 55,12 mm, do not add a
supplement.
NOTE:
While measuring distance (X), keep pressure on
crankshaft to displace axial play towards the flywheel
side.
