6A-112 ENGINE REPAIR

REMOVAL AND REPAIR OF CYLINDER HEAD

Dismantling and check of camshaft

Dismantling

1) Install cylinder head on tool ref. 790979 and orientable

support ref. 790980.

2) Dismantle  front cover (3), liberate gradually nuts of resting

covers  (1), remove covers  and withdraw  camshaft (2).

CAUTION:
To avoid excessive flexions because the pressure
coming from the  springs of valves, loose nuts of
resting covers (1) gradually and uniformly.

Check

Supports diameter

NOTE:
• Check that connecting rods surfaces and camshaft

supports do not show scratches or symptoms of
gripping. If there is evidence of any of such defects
substitute camshaft.

• Check that supports surfaces in cylinder head do not

show scratches or symptoms of gripping. If any of
the stated defects is observed proceed to rectify the
diameter of oversized replacement supports, which
means you have to replace camshaft by an oversized
spare.

• If in order to achieve a correct diameter the

mechanical rectifying of support implies to have to
go over the maximum allowed (Ø of  34,215 mm),
substitute cylinder head.

• To carry out the of camshaft support measurements

on the cylinder head and in the camshaft see the
following table (standard size or oversized).
