Connections: Connecting This Unit to a Network
Logging on to this unit from a network connected computer
via FTP enables read and write operations of P2 cards in the
unit.
However, if the unit is not in record and playback mode or is
recording, FTP services are shut down and FTP login is not
available.
During playback, file transfers become pending.
During FTP login, the unit cannot be switched to a mode other
than the recording playback mode or set to record. Either wait
until logout or terminate the login connection on the unit.
As shown below, login is indicated on the LCD while you are
logged in.
On an FTP server, P2 cards are stored in the following folders.
◆
NOTE:
• Up to five connections can be made to an FTP server. Some FTP
client software occupies multiple connections.
• File transfers and revising and deleting P2 card file data are limited
to one client.
• Folders cannot be created or deleted on a P2 card.
• Files can be written to the AUDIO, CLIP, ICON, PROXY, VIDEO and
VOICE folders below the CONTENTS folder. These folders cannot
be deleted nor can their names be changed.
• The LastClip.txt file on a P2 card is read only.
• Access via samba is not available.
• Use the MODE button to terminate a login. If connections or files
remain open after an FTP client software has aborted or otherwise
ended abnormally, terminate the FTP server to reset it.
The following folders can be seen on an FTP server in
recording and playback mode.
There is no data at the level below subfolder level on a USB or
eSATA hard disk.
The management information folder is a read-only folder that
contains the cardindo.csv file. This file stores write protect
information and other data.
◆
NOTE:
• P2 card filenames consist of 8 characters followed by a 3-character
extension. Only single-byte characters can be used and the
filenames are case insensitive.
Since filenames that do not conform to this convention are
automatically converted to a filename that P2 cards can handle, a
file could accidentally be assigned the same name as an existing
file.
