Step 6.
Reinstall the PCI riser-card assembly (see “Replacing the PCI riser-card assembly” on page 78).
If you have other devices to install, do so now. Otherwise, go to “Completing the installation” on page 78.
Completing the installation
Use this information to complete the installation.
To complete the installation, complete the following steps.
Step 1.
If you removed the PCI riser-card assembly, reinstall it (see “Replacing the PCI riser-card
assembly” on page 78).
Step 2.
If you removed the air baffle, reinstall it (see “Replacing the air baffle” on page 79).
Step 3.
If you removed the server cover, replace it (see “Replacing the cover” on page 80).
Step 4.
Install the server in the rack cabinet (see the
Rack Installation Instructions
that comes with the
server for instructions).
Step 5.
Reconnect the cables and power cords (see “Connecting the cables” on page 81).
Step 6.
Update the server configuration (see “Updating the server configuration” on page 83).
Step 7.
Start the server. Confirm that it starts correctly and recognizes the newly installed devices, and
make sure that no error LEDs are lit.
Step 8.
(Business Partners only) Complete the additional steps in “Instructions for Business Partners”
on page 23.
Replacing the PCI riser-card assembly
Use this information to replace the PCI riser-card assembly.
Read the safety information in “Safety” on page v and “Installation guidelines” on page 31.
If you are replacing a server component in the server, you need to slide the server out from the rack
enclosure, turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cords and all external cables.
To replace the PCI riser-card assembly, complete the following steps.
Step 1.
Install the adapter in the PCI riser-card assembly (see “Replacing an adapter” on page 185 or
“Replacing an Lenovo ServeRAID SAS/SATA controller” on page 188).
Step 2.
Reconnect any adapter cables that you disconnected when you removed the PCI riser-card
assembly.
Step 3.
Carefully align the PCI riser-card assembly with the guides on the rear of the server and with the
PCI riser-card connector on the system board; then, place your thumbs on locations marked by the
blue tabs and press down on the PCI riser-card assembly. Make sure that the riser-card assembly
is fully seated in the connector on the system board.
