Troubleshooting
Microprocessor
Problems
Action
The server emits a
continuous tone during
POST. A microprocessor is not working properly.
1. Verify that the secondary microprocessor is seated
properly.
2. If your server contains two microprocessors,
remove the secondary microprocessor and restart
the server. If the server starts properly, replace the
old secondary microprocessor.
3. If you have only one microprocessor, replace it.
Restart the server.
If the problem still exists, have the system serviced.
Keyboard, Mouse,
or Pointing-
Device Problems
Action
All or some keys on the
keyboard do not work. Verify that:
1. The server and the monitor are turned on.
2. The keyboard cable is securely connected to the
keyboard connector on the server. For the location
of the keyboard connector, see “Input/Output
Connectors” on page 10.
If the problem cannot be isolated and corrected, have
the keyboard and system serviced.
The mouse or pointing
device does not work. Verify that:
1. The mouse or pointing-device cable is securely
attached to the proper connector on the server.
Depending on the type of mouse that you have, the
mouse cable will connect to either the mouse
connector or the serial connector. To find the
mouse and serial connectors, see “Input/Output
Connectors” on page 10.
2. The device drivers for the mouse are installed
correctly.
If the problem cannot be isolated and corrected, have
the server and the device serviced.
