16. Patch management
As a rule, Hygiena will not provide any patches for the Autosampler III. If the customer deems a patch
necessary, that should be discussed with Hygiena. During this discussion, a risk analysis should be done. If a
patch is agreed on, a document should be produced that describes exactly what is patched and what is not.
When a patch is installed and verified, a report must be made generated, stating all changes and how they
were verified. Patches can be divided into two parts: Xperimate and HMI patches.
16.1. Xperimate
Before any patch can be applied to Xperimate, a backup must be made. This backup must include a copy of
the entire Xperimate folder with all its subfolders. The Xperimate folder can be found at
C:\(Customer Name)\Xperimate.
When a backup is made, the required patches can be installed. When the installation is done, the
Autosampler III should be verified to ensure that all components are working correctly. Changes in Xperimate
will affect the behavior of the Autosampler III. During the verification, extra attention should be paid to the
specific behavior changes.
Compatible with Windows 10 Professional.
16.2. HMI
Before any patch can be applied to the HMI, a backup must be made. This backup must include the entire
Xperimate folder with all its subfolders together with the old version of the HMI software. The HMI folder can
be found at C:\(Customer Name)\HMI.
When a backup is made, the required patches can be installed. When the installation is done, the
Autosampler III should be verified to ensure that all components are working correctly. This should be done
during a run of the Autosampler III. This run should be at least one full MTP. If specific behavior is changed
with the patch, that behavior should also be specifically tested.
Changes to the HMI will mostly be visual, but can also include functional changes to the handling of alarms,
users, settings, etc.
Compatible with Windows 10 Professional.
16.3. Windows updates
Automatic windows updates will be disabled on the Autosampler III. If windows updates are necessary,
an image of the entire system must be made beforehand. This image must be saved on a separate device.
These images should be created according to customer IT standards and protocols.
When a backup is made, the required updates can be installed. When the installation is done, the
Autosampler III should be verified to ensure that all components are still working. To verify the Autosampler III,
a test run should be done.
16.4. Installing software
The installation process for software on the Autosampler III is simple. There will be a folder supplied by
Hygiena containing all the required files. The files should be placed at the correct locations. The location the
files must be placed at are the following:
•
Xperimate: C:\(Customer Name)\Xperimate
•
HMI: C:\(Customer Name)\HMI
Region Settings:
For correct working of the application the region settings should be configured as follows:
Decimal symbol: ","
Digit grouping symbol: "."
