7.5 Fertiliser equipment
The fertiliser equipment enables simultaneous and direct fertiliser placement while
drilling.
The equipment consists of:
• Pressure hopper
• Metering unit with fall sluice
• Fan
• Distributor tower with hoses
• Fertiliser coulter
Fall sluice
In the fall sluice the metering unit injects the fertiliser into the air flow (see chapter
Metering unit ).
The fall sluice is fitted with a flexible covering at the bottom. For the purpose of cal-
ibrating the covering is opened and the calibration bag is hooked on to the hooks
on the housing.
In order to avoid malfunctions in the fertiliser transport or its distribution during
drilling, all connections and the covering must be tightly closed.
NOTE
Air losses cause metering errors.
Metering unit with fall sluice

If the machine is equipped in addition with the micro-granular compound device, it
is also switched per side.
Distributor For fertiliser distribution the system is equipped with two distribution towers.
All distributor components (lids, hoses etc.) must be leak tight. Even slightest leaks
and air losses will cause uneven distribution.
During use the distributor must be aligned vertically, as otherwise the fertiliser will
be distributed unevenly across the width of the machine.
The distributors are automatically lowered for transport and extended again for use.
