Fluorolog-3 v. 2.2 (11 Jul 2002)
Determining the Plateau Voltage
12-3
Procedure
Set up the instrument
1
Turn on the xenon lamp, Fluorolog
®
-3 system,
peripherals, and computer.
2
Enter the DataMax software.
3
Run a xenon-lamp spectrum and the water
Raman scans.
Do water Raman scans both right-angle and front-face to ensure that the system
is functioning properly.
4
Enter the
Real Time Display
.
5
Set the slits of the excitation and emission
spectrometers to a bandpass of 5 nm.
6
Insert a cuvette filled with distilled water in the
sample holder.
7
Select right-angle detection.
Turn the selection mirror knob located on top of the sampling module to
RA
.
8
Set the Integration Time to 2.0 s.
9
Position the excitation and emission
spectrometers to 350 nm and 397 nm,
respectively. Click on the check boxes to
activate them.
10
Display the
High Voltage
dialog box by clicking
on the icon.
11
Turn on HV1 (signal detector or S voltage).
Record the signal from 650 V to 1200 V.
