Section 2 Installation
STEP 5
Slowly increase the transmitter output power while monitoring the reject
load power, the RF output power and the upper and lower RF sidebands
on the spectrum analyzer. If the sidebands increase to within -20dB of
the in-band signal, stop and troubleshoot the system. Look for
overdriven stages or mis-settings of the exciter pre-correction circuits.
STEP 6
Excessive reject load power is caused by a mis-phasing and/or unequal
amplitude of the amplifier cabinets.
STEP 7
For a detailed Cabinet phasing procedure see "5.9 Cabinet Phase and
Gain" on page 5-30. If you are already familiar with the procedure then
go to the Cabinet Phasing screen and select a cabinet to adjust. Then
push the applicable increase/decrease button on the screen (usually
Phase first then amplitude if necessary). The objective is to minimize all
the reject load powers. Note that the reject load power bar changes scale
as reject load power reduces below 2%.
STEP 8
Continue to increase power output until the power meter connected in
STEP 1 shows full power (average DTV power).
2.10 Parallel Remote Control Connections
External Parallel remote control units can interface at the Customer I/O board in the
rear of the Control Cabinet. J1 through J3 are 37-pin “D” connectors for remote
Control, Status and Analog readings. The connectors are organized as follows:
•
"2.10.1 Transmitter Control Functions, J1" on page 2-27.
•
"2.10.2 Remote Status Outputs, J2" on page 2-28.
