Section 9 Quick Bench Test Procedures:

ATTENTION:

The following Procedure Must Be Carried Out By An Electrically Competent

Person Using Appropriate ESD and Soldering Procedures.

“Electrically Competent Person” as defined in the IEC-60215 Safety Standard

A. Fan Failure Detection in Harris Transmitter:

In Harris transmitters, the power supply is installed in a removable tray assembly.
The power supply is connected to the AC mains power via a circuit breaker on
the power supply assembly front panel. The power supply is held in place by 2
screws. The fan operation can be checked by the following procedure.

Remove the 2 screws that retain the power supply.

x

Shut off the breaker to the power supply to be removed.

Caution:

the breaker must be off before the power supply is

removed to prevent connector damage. There is sufficient
capacitor storage capacity to keep the power supply fan running
for about 10 seconds after AC power is removed.

x

Quickly remove the power supply assembly. Observe to see of
fan is still running.

B. Ohm Meter Check of AC Input:

This test checks if the fuse F1 is open

x

Remove the jumpers between the two terminals

x

Set Ohm Meter to 10k

The Master Board (Bottom Module)

a. N to L should read between 10k

b. N to G should read >10M

c. L to G should read >10M

The Slave Board (Top Module)
