RF Power Measurements
The easiest and most accepted method for measuring DTV average power is using
precision directional couplers calibrated for your particular frequency along with a
Digital power meter and power sensor.
A precision coupler for this application is defined as one in which the Coupling Ratio
has been set at a specific operating frequency. A precision coupler must have the
calibration frequency and coupling ratio printed on the line section.
Standard practice with the Diamond CD transmitter is to install a precision coupler on
the output of each cabinet (before the filter or combiner) and one at the output of the
entire system. This will allow for easy and accurate power measurements and
calibration of the transmitter.

32 Volt Power Supply
5.3.1
Removal
The +32VDC power supplies can be removed from the transmitter while the transmitter
remains on the air. One power supply serves two PA Modules. Access to the power
supplies is obtained by removing the cover at the bottom front of the PA Cabinet which
is held in place by magnetic catches. To remove the power supply, turn the breaker on
the power supply to be removed to the OFF state, remove the two screws holding the
power supply assembly in the transmitter frame and pull the power supply out the front
of the transmitter.
5.3.2
Replacement
To replace the supply, insert a power supply back into the opening pressing with a slow
firm motion. Once seated, reinstall the screws and turn the power supply breaker ON.
To restor the two modules affected by the power supply to the ON state, press the
transmitter ON button on the Transmitter Control Panel.
Before replacing the module with a new one be sure to check the AC voltage strapping
on the front side of the supply (inside the aluminum chassis). The power supply
modules can be strapped for 240 or 480 Vac as is shown in Figure 5-1, along with a
picture of the inside of the actual supply chassis. This information is also shown on the
power supply Wiring Diagram, 843-5494-353 in the schematic package.
