4. Maintenance
Charging battery
Unless you have the knowledge and the con-
trolled environment, have your dealer charge
your battery.
The battery can still discharge quickly if the
ignition switch is ON for an extended period of
time after the engine shutdown, or the width
lamps or parking signal lamps are ON for an
extended period of time after parking.

Do not use the electrical equipment for
an extended period of time after the en-
gine shutdown.
2.
When you leaving the vehicle, be sure to
close the doors tightly and turn off all the
electrical equipment (e.g., lights, etc.)
3.
If the engine can't be started when the
electrical devices are using, don't contin-
uously start the engine. You should wait
for 5-10min before re-starting the engine.
If the engine still can't be started, please
contact GAC dealer for overhauling.
Replace battery
Your battery is installed properly and safely.
The genuine battery can meet the vehicle
maintenance, performance and safety require-
ments.
Read and follow the safety warnings related to
operating the battery before starting work.
Note
•
If the battery needs to be replaced,
select the recommended battery
(see Page 339). Failure to do so can
cause improper operation of the
start-stop system. Go to your GAC
MOTOR GS4 dealer for replacement.
•
To avoid damaging your vehicle’s
electrical system, do not connect
the solar panels or battery charger
and other power generation equip-
ment to the 1
2 V
power outlet or
cigarette lighter.
•
As the battery contains toxic ma
-
terials such as sulfuric acid and
lead, it must be disposed carefully
and don't take it just as a common
household waste.
Hint
•
When you connect the battery to the
electrical system, the ESP warning
light will be illuminated.
•
The warning light should go out
after the vehicle drives a short dis-
tance at 15~2
0 k
m/h.
Note
Whenever the battery is disconnected and
re-connected, operation needs to be per
-
formed on self-learning of the start-stop
system:
1.
Turn off the ignition switch or start
switch and all in-vehicle electrical
equipment, and let the vehicle sit for
over 4h.
2.
Start the vehicle 3 times, and let it
operate continuously for at least 1
minute each time.
