3. Driving Directions
3.1.3 Shut down the engine.
- Keep the car stable when parking it.
- To shut off the engine, turn the ignition
switch or start switch to Lock or OFF.
After the engine shutdown, the radiator fan will
keep running for a period of time.
Hint
• For the vehicle models equipped
with conventional ignition switch, to
shut off the engine, turn the ignition
key to ACC from ON counterclock-
wise, and then press the ignition key
in the direction of insertion and hold
it there, and turn the ignition key to
LOCK counterclockwise again.
• For a PEPS model, without the
smart key in your vehicle, you can-
not shut off the engine via smart
entry.
Warning
• When the engine doesn't run, the
brake booster also doesn't work.
When braking, you need exert
harder force to step the brake pedal
to stop the car. Because the steer-
ing booster also doesn't work, when
steering, you must exert harder
force to rotate steering wheel.
• When the ignition switch or start
switch is turned to LOCK or OFF,
the airbags will be disabled.
• Once the ignition switch or start
switch is turned to LOCK or OFF, the
steering wheel will be locked, caus -
ing the vehicle cannot be turned. Be
sure to avoid accidents.
• Do not let water invade the engine.
When driving on low-lying watery
roads, always prevent water from
invading the engine. Failure to do
so can cause serious damage to the
engine, thus resulting in failure and
damage to the vehicle. This is not
covered by the warranty.
