Steering unit and running system fault and troubleshooting (four-wheel drive model)
Symptoms Causes Solutions
The free travel of the
steering system is too big.
1. The thrust bearing of the steering gear is
damaged.
2. The screws, nuts and balls of the steering
gear are worn.
3. The toothed sector or rack is worn.
1. Replace the bearing or adjust it.
2. Replace the worn parts.
3. Adjustment
The mechanical and
hydraulic steering is too
heavy.
1. The upper ball race of the thrust bearing for
the steering system is over-tightened.
2. The front tire pressure is too low.
3. The oil supply quantity of the gear oil
pump is insufficient, internal leakage of the
gear oil pump occurs, or the strainer in the
steering oil tank is clogged.
4. Air is trapped in the steering system, so the
oil cylinder does not work normally when
turning the steering wheel.
5. The oil in the steering oil tank is
insufficient.
6. The spring force of the safety valve is
weak, or the ball loses sealing effect.
The steering wheel is turned lightly at light load,
and heavily with load being increased.
7. The fluid viscosity is too big.
8. The ball non-return valve in the valve body
is failed, the steering wheel is turned
heavily during fast or slow turning, and the
steering is weak.
9. The steering system is subject to oil
leakage, including internal leakage (oil
cylinder) and external leakage.
1. Tighten the upper ball race correctly.
2. Have it inflated as required.
3. Check whether the gear oil pump
works normally, and clean the
strainer.
4. Remove the air trapped in the system,
and check whether air enters the oil
suction pipeline.
5. Refill the oil to the specified oil level.
6. Clean the safety valve and adjust the
pressure spring of the safety valve.
7. Use the specified fluid.
8. Clean, maintain or replace it.
9. Check and eliminate the oil leakage.
