Typical for EIA-232 or EIA-485 applications, the permissible range of values is
from 0001 to 9999. Each block converter module has its own address:

If several devices share an EIA-485 bus, note that the LBC-4000 requires three
addresses, and the device numbering should be spaced accordingly.
The Controller sends a packet with the address of a Target – the
destination of the packet. When the Target responds, the address used
is the same address, to indicate to the Controller the source of the
packet. The Controller does not have its own address.

Address Delimiter
This is the forward slash character ‘/’ (ASCII code 47).

Instruction Code
Upper and lower case alphabetic characters may be used (A-Z, and a-z).
This three-character alphabetic string, whenever possible, references the subject
command or query. This aids in the readability of the message, should it be
displayed in its raw ASCII form.

Instruction Code Qualifier
The Instruction Code Qualifier is the underscore ‘_’ (ASCII code 95). This single
character further qualifies the preceding instruction code. The Instruction Code
Qualifier obeys these rules:
