Rocker Arm Cover Removed
8. Reassemble spring seat, spring, and spring
cap, then use tool in same manner as described
for removal to compress spring. Install two valve
locking keys in groove in valve stem.
9. Swing rocker arms and bracket into place
and install bracket bolts (fig. 5).

10. Check valve clearance, referring to in­
structions previously given in "Final Tune-up
Operations" under "Exhaust Valve Adjustment.”
11. Install rocker arm cover.
CYLINDER HEAD REPLACEMENT
The cylinder head and/or gasket at either
right-hand or left-hand cylinder bank may be re­
placed in manner described below:
R E M O V A L
1. Drain cooling system. Remove engine ac­
cess cover from inside cab (fig. 3).
2. Disconnect battery to prevent damage from
accidental short circuiting of wiring.
3. Disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust mani­
fold.
4. Remove exhaust manifold stud nuts and
special clamp washers, then remove exhaust mani­
fold and gasket.
5. At front of cylinder head remove thermo­
stat housing and accessory brackets (when used).
6. Disconnect fuel lines from fittings at front
of cylinder head. When removing left-hand head,
disconnect fuel return line from fitting at rear of
head.
7. Remove rocker arm cover from head (fig. 5).
8. Remove cover from governor housing. R e ­
move nut (5, fig. 6) from fuel rod, then remove
pin (7, fig. 6) attaching link to tube lever and re­
move link (6, fig. 6).
9. Inside governor housing (fig. 7), remove
screw which attaches fuel rod to lever in housing,
then remove rod.
10. Loosen hose clamps, then move hoses as
