GEAR SHIFTING MECHANISM

Shifting m echanism , installed in differential carrier

housing, is com posed of shifter shaft, shift fork, and slid

ing clutch gear. Shifter shaft is installed in hole in carrier

and supports shift fork. Slidi ng clutch gear, m ounted over

REAR AXLE 4-18

left axle shaft, is a long sleeve with external gear teeth at

inner and outer ends (B, fig. 5).

LUBRICATION

Lubricant is supplied to pinion bearings and right dif

ferential bearing by an oil collector trough. Oil collector

trough, attached to differential carrier, collects lubricant

as differential rotates. Oil which is scraped from support
