Organizing With Layers
Layers allow you to organize the entities in your
drawing into groups in order to limit printing, display, or accidental modifi-
cation. Layers give you additional flexibility and control, especially if your
drawing is complex.
Using the Clipboard & OLE
The Windows Clipboard allows you to transfer
information between AutoSketch and non-CAD applications. This means
you can use specifications from an Excel spreadsheet in AutoSketch, or
feature your AutoSketch drawing in a PowerPoint presentation.
Importing & Exporting
Often, it is necessary to use a AutoSketch drawing
in another application or to import a drawing created by another application
into AutoSketch. In these situations it is important to know how to import
and export drawings.
Compass Angles & Bearings
AutoSketch recognizes three types of angle
measurements: standard angles, compass angles, and bearings. This topic
discusses the three types of angles and methods for displaying angles in
degrees, minutes, degrees-minutes-seconds, radians, grads, and bearings.
Using Numeric Expressions
A numeric expression is a mathematical
formula that evaluates to a single number. For example, the expression
2+2 evaluates to the number 4. AutoSketch lets you enter numeric expres-
sions instead of a number in most edit bar and dialog box text boxes.
Numeric expressions are particularly useful when you know how to calculate
a number, but you don’t know the number itself.
Tracing in AutoSketch
You may have a rendering, blueprint, or model in
the form of a paper drawing, that you need to convert to CAD form. This
topic tells you how to trace the original from either of two sources: a picture
or a digitizer tablet.
Customizing AutoSketch
By customizing screen components, and drawing
and editing preferences, you can change AutoSketch to better suit your draw-
ing and editing needs. This topic tells you how to modify components of the
display, including the drawing window, the edit bar, property bar, and so on.
