BROOM MOTOR - CARBON BRUSH INSPECTION
The carbon brushes in the sweeping broom motor should be inspected once a year.
To inspect the brushes . . .

Disconnect the battery cables and remove the battery and the battery tray from the machine.

Remove the brush cover from the brush motor and remove the carbon brushes. Replace the carbon
brushes if they are worn to a length of 3/8 inch (10 mm) or less.

BROOM MOTOR REMOVAL / REPLACEMENT
To remove or replace the broom motor . . .

Disconnect the battery cables and remove the battery and the battery tray from the machine.

See Figure 6. Open the left side access door and loosen the (2) “K” bolts.

Loosen the (2) “L” locknuts and loosen
the belt by turning the (2) “M” bolts.

Remove the belt tension spring “N” and
remove the belt from the motor pulley.

Disconnect the broom motor leads.

Remove the (4) “O” motor mount bolts
and lift the motor out of the machine.
Note: When installing the broom motor, push
it up to the top of the mounting slots
before tightening the mounting bolts.

Follow the steps above in reverse order to
re-assemble.

Adjust the belt tension so that there is a 1
inch (2.57 cm) space at the idler pulley as
shown in Figure 6.
