VACUUM SYSTEM

GENERAL INFORMATION
The Vacuum System lifts water and dirt off of the floor and into the recovery tank. The main parts of the
vacuum system are shown in FIGURE 1.
FIGURE 1 HERE
In order for the Vacuum System to operate properly, all of the air moved by the vacuum motor must enter the
system through the squeegee. If air leaks into the system through a hole in a hose or a torn gasket, pick-up
performance will decrease because less air will flow through the squeegee.
A build-up of dirt or “restriction” in the system will also decrease the amount of air flowing into the squeegee.
The most common place to find a restriction is in the vacuum filter, located behind the right rear access door.
The Squeegee is raised and lowered by an electric actuator, located under the battery compartment. When
the vacuum switch (on the dashboard) is put in the ON (I) position, the vacuum motor starts and the actuator
lowers the squeegee onto the floor. When the vacuum switch is put in the OFF (O) position, the vacuum
motor stops and the squeegee moves to the UP position. A switch connected to the drive pedal linkage raises
the squeegee whenever the drive pedal is pushed to the REVERSE position. This prevents damage to the
squeegee blades.
