22-4 – Analyzer Management
Chapter 22
Revision 2.10, Apr 2020
The sensor’s sensitivity. This is normally expressed in mV (millivolts) per engineering
unit, as described above. For instance, if using the model 991D –1 accelerometer, its
engineering unit is in g’s and it produces 20 mV for every g of force exerted on it,
therefore its sensitivity is 20 mV/g. If your sensor does not have a sensitivity expressed in
mV per EU, and instead expressed as pC (picocoulombs) per EU, please contact ACES
Systems to obtain a Charge Converter appropriate to your sensor and situation.
The polarity of your sensor. This may or may not be displayed on your specification sheet
and has no effect on vibration surveys. If unknown, an incorrect polarity entry will cause
the analyzer to measure the phase angle 180 degrees out causing one additional run to
provide a good balance solution. Most sensors will be normal polarity and those entered
as default sensors in the analyzer already have the correct polarity.
The Bias requirement of your sensor. This information will be listed on the specification
sheet under something referring to “Bias Voltage” or similar. If you do not know the IEP
requirements of the sensor, call ACES Systems and ask for Product Support.
The input type of your sensor. Available selections are single ended and differential. The
correct selection here will reduce the noise and increase the accuracy of the sensor’s
measurement.
To add a sensor or to edit the specifications for an already programmed unlocked sensor, do the
following:
Select “Analyzer Management” from the Main Menu banner screen.
Select “Manage Sensors” from the “Analyzer Management” banner screen menu.
Select “Edit” from the “Manage Sensors” banner screen menu then perform one of the
following selections:
NOTE
Preset sensors cannot be edited. You can use the [F4] “Copy” key to create a copy of a preset
sensor and edit the copy to fit your needs.
To add a new sensor, press the [F1] key, which corresponds to the function key
window labeled “New” at the bottom of the screen.
To copy an existing sensor, select a sensor with similar specifications and press
the [F4] key, which corresponds to the function key window labeled “Copy” at
the bottom of the screen. The name field will have to be amended as you can not
have two sensors with the same name saved.
